2007-2008 Apple Awards
April 12, 2008
Hyatt Regency Tech Center
2008 Event Revisions: The Apple Awards theme will be a
“World of Possibilities.” Teachers create a “World of Possibilities”
for their students and the Douglas County Educational Foundation
will highlight that world at this year’s Apple Awards.
There will be two Apple Award Representatives selected for 2008 –
one representative for Elementary and one for Secondary schools.
DCSD teachers prepare students to acquire the knowledge and
abilities to be responsible citizens who contribute to our society.
Students learn how to think critically, embrace universal ethical
principles, demonstrate the self-motivation and resourcefulness to
continue their learning, apply what they learn, develop and
demonstrate leadership skills and take ownership and accept
responsibility for their wellbeing. The Douglas County Educational
Foundation (DCEF), in cooperation with the Douglas County School
District and the Douglas County Federation of Teachers, is pleased
to announce the details for this year’s Apple Awards
to honor teachers for all they do!
The Apple Awards honors teachers who have
demonstrated a superior ability to foster excellence in education
while contributing to the continuous improvement of student learning
and the school environment throughout Douglas County.
Students, parents, teachers and community members may nominate
qualified teachers for these prestigious awards. Following the
nomination process, staff at each school will select one teacher to
represent it at the Apple Awards. The teacher selected
from each school will receive an iPod shuffle at the dinner and will
be invited to submit an application for the next round of awards.
Once submissions are received, two semi-finalists will be selected
to represent each of the Feeder Areas – one elementary and one
secondary. The night of the Apple Awards, there will
be two teachers honored as Apple Award Recipients – one elementary
and one secondary teacher.
The Dinner will be April 12, 2008 at the
Hyatt Regency Tech Center in the Grand Ballroom. The DCEF
expects another sold out event with over 800 in attendance. Each
school will have a table at the dinner and additional tables for
sponsors will be available. Feel free to contact the Foundation at
303-387-0505 for more information.
As in year’s past, the dress for the event will be black-tie
optional and guests are invited to stay and dance the night away as
we celebrate and honor the “World of Possibilities” teachers create
for students!
